1964 D About Silver Washington Quarter
You are looking at a Silver Washington Quarter. Minted starting in 1932, the Washington Quarter commemorates the 200th anniversary of George Washington's birth. The reverse shows an eagle with its wings spread clutching a bundle of arrows in its claws.
Until 1964 these quarters were made of 90% silver. From 1965 onward, with the exception of some special collector coins, all Washington Quarters were made of copper and nickel.
The mint mark can be found on the reverse below the wreath. In 1968 the mint mark was moved to the front, just to the right of Washington's neck.
